Day 4
Seem to have inadvertently settled into a sleep pattern of 2am-6am and 2pm-6pm. It seems to work right now. Biphasic sleep I believe it is called.
However, wake up with a throbbing middle finger, round the nail. It seems that when I was washing my hands a lot at all the airports etc, I rubbed off some skin around the nail and there’s now the start of an infection. Wonderful.
Have got back into the habit of some Vipassana meditation for half hour in the morning, some Wim Hof breathing and then a 1/2 minute cold shower. I used to do this a lot, but fell out of the habit in the last year. Really good to be back on this as feel energised and calm to start the day.
Check out the Biohazard bags:
Second Korean lesson…lots of dictation which I really struggled with. There’s a vowel sound ‘EO’ which I have particular trouble with. Slowly but surely. 3 hours in one sitting is quite intense, having not done much concentrated study in a very long time. Also struggle to write as the pen is rubbing against my sore finger. Had to call the hotel to get someone to check it out.
Breakfast
Sandwich: Ham, processed cheese and burger sauce. Very crispy lettuce and large slice of tomato with a pickled gherkin. I wasn’t expecting this to be great but its a classic flavour and texture profile, pretty much that of a burger. The fact they’ve also served this up with chips and tomato ketchup makes me think this isn’t an accident. Ketchup is very tomatoey — almost like a tomato puree with vinegar and salt added.
Very much on board with this. I’m a big fan for having ‘normal’ foods at breakfast time. If the bread was a bit toasted and the cheese slightly melted then this would have been a winner. Soggy chips warmed up with boiled water bowl method. 7/10. [Extra point for serving chips for breakfast]
Hardboiled egg is egg and there’s that Grape Juice again.
Lunch & Dinner: Much of a muchness.
